Shinise, means a long-established business that has been in operation for at least a hundred years. Over half of 500 major  U.S. corporations close their doors in less than 15 years, Japan has 33,000 businesses at least a century old. More than ever, Shinise Businesses are attracting interest from global strategists and MBA students, who want to know how Shinise continue to keep their doors open for over 100 years while they keep accumulating know-how and refining the unique values, and able to offer the best quality products to their loyal customers through generations. How have so many survived through westernization, modernization, change of successors withstanding rapid shift of market demands and technological advancement? Most importantly what impact does Shinise brings to the future of our regional community?

After Covid, sustainable management, circular economy, and regenerative design are in demand all over the world, and the concept ofShinise is distinctively different from the western idea of mass productions for the mass market but it is aligned with the concept of the circular economy which enhances local economic activities.

Led by leading experts of sustainable business/circular economy and brand management strategy, this course will provide you insights through successful cases and failed cases while revealing strategies used by notable Shinise companies. The course also introduces you to the process of re-analyzing existent businesses’ core values and leads you to apply innovations to create the next iconic product while sustaining the company’s core values.

The course is highly interactive requiring pro-active discussions and group works and presentations.
